Skills Obtained: Knowledge, Awareness, Application for Community Policing, Policies, National Best and Worst practices on several social media platforms Course Description: Social Media allows users to generate their own content and share it through social networking connections. It focuses on integration, collaboration, and interaction using many tools at little and often no cost. Thousands of public safety agencies use social media tools to share videos, photos, news, alerts, and educational information with the community almost instantly to build trust, engage in community outreach and to prevent and solve crimes. Course Objectives: • Introduction to Social Media (SM) • How is it Affecting Public Safety Agencies Today • Social Media and Community Oriented Policing • Myths and Barriers to Implementation • Good and Bad Uses of Social Media • How SM is Being Used to Facilitate Crime in Your Community • How SM is Being Used to Prevent Crime and Solve Problems • Implementing SM in Your Agency Recommended Audience: This non-technical, introduction level course is designed for Public Safety CEOs (Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Management), Policy Makers, Public Information Officers, or Supervisors who will be implementing Social Media or Social Media policies into their agencies. We also have modified version of this course for DAs, Mayors and City Department heads. Class Size: No Min/Max Next Generation Training offers 2 payment/fee options: Option 1 - $1500.00 Facilitator/Instruction fee per day + expenses (* below). Host agency is responsible for marketing, participant registration, handout/material copies, and providing certificates if needed. Option 2 - $150 per participant, minimum 25. NGT provides online registration, handouts/printed materials, and certificates. Host agency provides facility, power point projector, screen, coffee, and local marketing. Host agency also receives two free participant slots. *Travel expenses may include (but are not limited to) mileage, lodging, airfare, meals and additional fees for extensive travel. Expenses are calculated at current Federal Government per diem rates.
