Service Description
Skills Obtained: Knowledge, awareness, issues public safety faces in disasters, world-wide best and worst practices on several social media platforms. Course Description: This course examines 10 disasters that have taken place world-wide since 2001 and extracts the best and worst social media practices from them. Participants will gain familiarity with several social media platforms and an extensive film library is on the NextGenTraining YouTube channel for them to refer back to and aide in teaching these lessons to their agencies. Course Objectives: • 2001 Hurricane Katrina • 2007 California Wildfires • 2009 Bellevue, NE Abortion Clinic • 2009 Presidential Inauguration • 2009 Washington, DC Metro Crash • 2010 Haiti Earthquake • 2011 Japan Tsunamis • 2011 US Tornado Devastation • 2013 Boston Bombing • 2015 Blizzard of 2015 Recommended Audience: This non-technical, introduction level course is designed for Public Safety CEOs (Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Management), Policy Makers, Public Information Officers, or Supervisors who will be working through a disaster in their community. A version of this course is available for DA’s, Mayors and City Department heads.
