Service Description

Course Description: Your communication skills determine the level of cooperation you receive. The perception of rudeness or indifference by one person can sabotage the efforts of the entire agency. The Effective Communication and Conflict Resolution course teaches effective communication skills during non-crisis conflicts. The majority of communication is non-crisis; however, people inadvertently escalate situations by using crisis-mode words, body language, and assumptions. Improvement in conflict resolution skills will: achieve more results, help avoid angry customers, reduce complaints, build better relations, create better teams and help achieve goals of crime prevention, community renewal, etc. Course Objectives: The overall goal of the Effective Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills module is to have participants improve their communication skills through awareness and practice. Upon completion participants will know/be able to: • Components of the communications cycle and importance of each • How to improve listening skills and comprehension • Employ knowledge of personality styles and predetermined mindset in communication • Put speakers at ease through non-verbal communication • De-escalate situations and recognize non-verbal cues
